The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug And Crime Control is investigating the death of a Bernie police officer. Thursday afternoon law enforcement responded to an address on West Crumb Avenue in Bernie for a domestic disturbance. Police Lieutenant Eddie Mays died while attempting to take a person into custody.
The MSHP’s investigation comes at the request of the Bernie Police Chief.
Funeral services for Lt. Mays are set for Wednesday at 12:30 pm. At Lighthouse Church in Dexter. Visitation begins at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield.
