Several People Hurt in Weekend Traffic Accidents

There were no traffic fatalities in SE Missouri over the long weekend. Five people were hurt Sunday in a two vehicle accident on US 412 at Route AC in Dunklin County. According to the MSHP, the accident happened when 27 year old Juan Herrera-Hernandez of Paragould failed to yield his vehicle and it struck a pickup driven by 30 year old Christina Isbell, also of Paragould.

Both drivers were hurt as were three others, who were passengers in the two vehicles. They were all taken to Arkansas Methodist Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The accident happened at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday night a two vehicle traffic accident on Highway J at CR 415 east of Deering left a teenager hurt. According to Troop E, that accident happened when 23 year old Joshua Emery of Caruthersville attempted to pass an SUV in his pickup and the SUV, driven by a 17 year old Hayti girl turned into the path of the pickup.

The teenager received moderate injuries and was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital following the 7:15 p.m. accident.

A vehicle left the road and overturned late Friday night on CR 314 north of Portageville and left the driver with minor injuries.

Troop E reports 49 year old Penny Joiner was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital following the 10 p.m. accident.
