I bet you didn’t know there was a “Banned Books Week.” There is and according to Mona Walls of the New Madrid County Libraries, it’s the last week of September and actually calls attention to the freedom to read.
Walls says the library system was awarded a grant from the Freedom to Read Foundation for a ‘banned book’ project.
There will also be a display at library headquarters in Portageville. The theme of the week is “Books Unite Us/Censorship Divides Us.”
