SIKESTON-Route DD in Dunklin County will soon close as construction of the Bootheel Bridge Bundle design-build project continues. The bridges slated for improvements are located over St. Francis Slough and the St. Francis River between County Road 203 and County Road 213 near Wilhelmina.

Contractor crews will first work to improve the St. Francis Slough bridge. Work will begin at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, with completion anticipated Nov. 1.

Once the new crossing at St. Francis Slough reopens, work will begin to rehabilitate the St. Francis River bridge. Tentatively, improvements to the St. Francis River bridge will be underway December 2021 through March 2022.

The bridges are part of the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Bootheel Bridge Bundle design-build project, which will improve 17 bridges throughout Southeast Missouri. Completion of the Bootheel Bridge Bundle design-build project is anticipated on or before Dec. 31, 2023.
