Cardwell man sentenced to life without parole

Charles Lipper, 54, of Cardwell, a former Portageville resident, will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty Thursday, Sept. 20, before Dunklin County Judge Robert Mayer to the murder of  Vada Nichols, 77, of Cardwell.

Vada Nichols was found dead in her home on E. Mulberry Street on March 24th this year.

Officials with the Dunklin County Sheriff’s office said Charles Scott Lipper had been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery.

The Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office investigated, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, Missouri Highway Patrol local zone, Malden Police Department, and Police Department.
