Missouri Governor Eric Grietens, was in Kennett Thursday, May 24, to introduce Dr. Randell Williams, Director of Health Services for Missouri and Steve Corsi, Director of Social Services to a crowd of Kennett doctors and health professionals.

The governor told the 40 to 45 people at the meeting that the state would do whatever they could to help Kennett and Dunklin County deal with the closure of Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.

Representative Don Rone, of Portageville, and Andrew McDaniel, of Caruthersville, were at the meeting along with the Dunklin County Commission and Kennett Mayor Bob Hancock.

Work continues to have an urgent care unit open by the end of June directly behind the hospital.  It is planned to be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be able to transport to emergency rooms in nearby hospitals.

The OB unit at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital should also be reopened by June 30th.  Work is to start soon on upgrading the Emergency Room at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital.
