Nucor Steel Ar., holds ribbon cutting ceremony, announces expansion

Nucor Steel Arkansas held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday in Mississippi County, Ar., to announce its $230 million cold mill expansion and that expansion could add 100 new jobs to the area. Vice President and General Manager Mary Emily Slate said the expansion will be the first of its kind in North America but its greatest impact will be seen right here in the surrounding communities.

“It’s incredible for this community because not only is it this one expansion but when we develop one job, that adds about five jobs to everyone to the community so it will attract other businesses to come here and we really think it’ll attract businesses that focus on automotive,” Slate said. Gov. Asa Hutchinson also spoke at the ceremony, congratulating Nucor on its expansion and hoping for further expansion in the future.
