Two arrested and charged possession of counterfeit money

According to Chief Ronnie Adams, on Friday, May 6, at approximately 8:20 p.m,., Portageville officers received a call from Sonic Drive In in reference to counterfeit money. Officers obtained a suspect and vehicle description.

During a search of the area, officers located the suspect vehicle at a car wash on US Highway 61. Officers made contact with a white female driver and a male passenger. During the investigation officers obtained a search of the occupants and vehicle. The search reviled the suspects to be in possession of counterfeit money and items used in manufacturing of counterfeit money.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department was contacted to assist in investigation. During the course of the investigation the suspects also passed counterfeit money at several locations in Pemiscot County.

Formal charges were filed by New Madrid County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Lawson, on Corey Partin, 40, of Portageville, and Carla Wagoner, 50, of Steele for forgery class D felony. Both Partin and Wagoner are being held at the Pemiscot County Jail  on a $15,000.00 bond.
