Man escapes from custody still at large

Chief of Police Billy Joe Stanfield reports on February 17, Steele Police received a report from a woman whom stated she had been shot at by her boyfriend a 24 year old man from Steele. The woman had a superficial wound that was allegedly caused by a gunshot. The incident reportedly occurred at a home on Gifford Street.

Steele Police located and arrested the suspect. The suspect was transported to the police department where he was processed and transported to the Pemiscot County Jail. Shortly after leaving the police department the suspect was able to free himself from the handcuffs then jumping out of the patrol car, fleeing from officers. The suspect is still at large and being sought by police.

Officer Katie Sides filed a report with the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney for review on issuance of a warrant on the suspect.
