High speed chase ends in New Madrid

Upon arrival officers observed a vehicle fleeing the scene, James W. Graham, 29, of Florissant, MO., then struck the patrol car. Steele Police then pursued the vehicle, Graham, refused to pull over for the police.

Graham, traveled North on Interstate 55, exceeding speeds of 100 mph. Law enforcement in New Madrid County deployed the stop sticks, which disabled Graham’s vehicle and was taken into custody without any further incident.

Deputies with the Pemiscot County Sherriff’s Department, Hayti Police, New Madrid Sheriff’s Department, Portageville Police, Caruthersville Police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the vehicle pursuit.

Steele Police Officer Michael Dodd filed charges with the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney and a warrant was subsequently issued charging Graham, with assault second degree a bond was set at $75,000.

Additional charges are currently pending.
