The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to multiple serious accidents in the Troop E area over the weekend.
On Saturday at 5:06pm, the MSHP responded to a single vehicle accident on National Forest Service Road 3210 in Ripley County, five miles north of Doniphan. The accident occurred as a 2017 Dodge Challenger, driven by a 20 year old male from Lafe, AR, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver and three occupants sustained serious injuries in the crash. The driver plus a 22 year old male occupant from Pocahontas, AR, and a 25 year old male occupant from Corning, AR, were air lifted from the scene to Region One in Memphis, TN. A 20 year old female from Rector, AR, was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. None of the individuals in the vehicle were wearing their seat belt.
Early Sunday morning at 12:25am, the MSHP responded to a fatal accident in Mississippi County on MO-80, one half mile west of East Prairie. The two vehicle crash occurred as a 2024 Kia K5 GT, driven by a 16 year old juvenile from Sikeston, MO, was northbound and failed to yield. The Kia was then struck by a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 19 year old female from East Prairie that was eastbound. An 18 year old male occupant from East Prairie was a passenger in the Wrangler and sustained serious injuries. He was air lifted to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. An 18 year old female occupant from Charleston and a 23 year old male occupant from Sikeston were also injured in the crash and were transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. The 16 year old male juvenile driver of the Kia was pronounced at the scene at 1:05am by Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker. This is Troop E fatality #38 for 2026.
Troop E is averaging just under five fatal accidents per month for 2026.
