Steve James ~ "Wakin' Up With The Wolf" ~ 5am-10am weekdays

Steve James began his career in radio at 16 in Lexington, TN. In his career, which will mark 19 years in April, Steve has served as a music director and program director. Steve credits his first general manager and mentor, Dan Hughes, with teaching him not only the passion of broadcasting, but how to treat people.

Steve comes to Pollack Broadcasting Company from Dyersburg, TN…literally. Steve broadcasts his half of the “Wakin’ Up with the Wolf” morning show from the “Wolf Den” studio on the corner of West Court and Church in downtown Dyersburg.

Steve is married to his best friend, Sherri. Together they have two children and a terribly dependent cat with violent mood-swings. The cat...not the children.

• Name one tune that’s “recently played” on your iPod: I don’t have an iPod, I prefer the old-fashioned radio or even those ancient discs they call CDs.
• Last Book Read: Working on “Prince Caspian” by C.S. Lewis. The movie comes out May 16th, 2008, so hopefully I’ll be done by then
• Last Movie Seen: “Juno"
• Current Hobby: Internet Research…okay, surfin’ the net…but Internet Research sounds better.
• Favorite childhood memory about your mother or father: It would have to be the quick weekend trip we all made to Gatlinburg, TN one year.
• What makes you laugh? “The Office” on NBC every time!
• Cats or Dogs? I used to be a dog person, but now that I’ve had a cat for a few years, they’re much easier to live with...at least, some of them are.
• What celebrity crushes did you have as a teenager? Four words…Princess Leia’s metal bikini
• Latest accomplishment: Finally getting the outside Christmas decorations taken down.
• Why I do what I do: Honestly, this is all I’ve ever known. I started in radio when I was 16 and I’ve never regretted it. This is a fun job, but it also challenges you at times. I get to wake up and actually enjoy going to work. I look forward to getting you up and at ‘em every weekday morning too. I get to make new friends every single morning. I get to entertain and inform you and I enjoy every minute of it. This is the best job ever!
