Charles “Izzy” Isbell has been in broadcasting since he was 17 years old. Isbell has owned and operated two radio stations, served as news director, program director and manager of several others. Isbell worked in television in Illinois in the mid 60s as a weatherman and newsman before returning to Kennett to raise his family. In the mid 80s, Isbell was elected to the office of County Clerk in Dunklin County and retired in 2006 after 20 years. A little known fact about “Izzy” is that he is an accomplished songwriter having written over 500 songs with a hundred or so recorded. His songs have been recorded by Charlie Pride, Narvel Felts, Jessica King, Terry Terrell and others. In the past few years, Isbell has been concentrating on writing Country Gospel.
