Today is get out of town day for many Americans heading out for the Thanksgiving weekend. AAA estimates that 49 million Americans will hit the road – in fact, estimates are this weekend might be third most traveled Thanksgiving weekend since 2000.

The MSHP’s counting period for the holiday weekend begins tonight at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight Sunday.
Over the 2021 Thanksgiving holiday counting period, 12 people were killed and 540 injured in 1,365 traffic crashes.
