The flag was lowered at Kennett Fire Station #2 during a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday for a new facility. During the ceremony Fire Chief Paul Spain reminded the large crowd gathered that the old station came as a result of a 1960 bond issue passed by Kennett voters. The old building, according to Spain, has served the city well since then.

Mayor Chancellor Wayne said the new station will make Kennett a safer place.

The $3.7 million project allows more housing for emergency personnel, ample space for larger equipment, and room for expansion. The new station will also house Survival Flight.
