Kennett Police report September 11 – 16, 2018

At approximately 12:47 am, officers arrested 29-year-old Lisa Redden of Kennett on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. Redden was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

At approximately 1:52 pm, officers received information from the Scott County Missouri Sheriff’s Office in reference to a theft involving a firearm that had occurred in their county. Through subsequent investigation, officers were able to locate and recover the firearm at a residence in the 2500 block of Quail Run. Officers subsequently arrested 39-year-old Christopher Harrigan of Kennett for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property. Harrigan was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 4:53 pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Wimberly Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officer learned that someone had stolen several items off the victims back porch. At the time of this report, there are no suspects, and the incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 6:01pm, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Beaton Street in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, officers learned that two subjects had got into a verbal altercation during which both displayed firearms before fleeing the area. This incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 7:38pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Maple Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had stolen a firearm from the victim’s residence. At the time of this report, there are no suspects, and the incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 8:42pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers attempted to stop the suspect who was attempting to leave in a vehicle. The suspect failed to yield at travelled south on the South Bypass. The suspect continued around the bypass and turned south on Missouri Route O. Shortly after turning onto Route O, the vehicle came to a stop and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers located an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and prescription medication in the suspect’s possession. Officers subsequently arrested 57 year old Jeremiah Bryant of Kennett for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Stealing, Resisting Arrest, and numerous traffic violations. Bryant was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 10:09pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Henderson Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the incident was only a verbal argument and that neither party involved wished to pursue charges.

9-15-2018

At approximately 1:22 am, officers conducted a traffic stop on the North Bypass near Sarah Drive. During the stop, officers subsequently arrested 38-year-old April Wilson of Kennett for Driving While Intoxicated. Wilson was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center where she was scheduled to be released at a later time on a Kennett Municipal Court summons.

At approximately 1:44 am, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department to speak with a subject reporting a robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated that while riding his bicycle, a suspect knocked him off of the bicycle and forcefully stolen his cell phone. Through subsequent investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect, however, the suspect has not been located. This incident remains under investigation however, a report will be forwarded to the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office for the filing of formal charges.

At approximately 12:24 pm, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department to speak with a subject reporting a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had stolen items out of the victim’s rent house. This incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 4:55 pm, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department to speak with a subject reporting a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that while the victim had been incarcerated, someone had stolen their ebt card. At the time of this report, a possible suspect has been identified however not located. This incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 5:50 pm, officers arrested 35-year-old Cassandra Taylor of Kennett on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. Taylor was later released with a new court date after posting bond.

At approximately 10:21 pm, officers arrested 29-year-old Laquisha Taylor of Kennett on two active Kennett Municipal warrants. Taylor was later released pending a new court date.

At approximately 11:50 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on Missouri 25 near Missouri Route EE. During the stop, officers located an undisclosed amount of Marijuana and narcotic related paraphernalia. Officers subsequently arrested 20-year-old Tyler Stultz of Holcomb for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Stultz was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending his court date.

At approximately 6:45 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers subsequently arrested 26-year-old Mary Matthews of Kennett for shoplifting. Matthews was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.

At approximately 10:14 pm, officers were dispatched to the Days Inn hotel on Independence Avenue in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim’s cell phone and credit cards had been stolen while at another location in Kennett. Officers learned that the victim was able to track the phone to its current location. After a subsequent investigation, officers located the phone and other items. Officers subsequently arrested 28-year-old Aaron Laxton of Mount Pleasant Arkansas for Stealing and Property Damage. Laxton was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 10:16 pm, officers arrested 43-year-old Chico Holmes of Peoria Illinois on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. Holmes was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

At approximately 11:48 am, officers went to a residence in the 900 block of Louis Street to follow up on a domestic violence incident from the day prior. Upon arrival, officers noted a strong odor of marijuana while speaking with the tenant at the door. After receiving consent to search the residence to ensure the domestic violence suspects were not present inside the residence, officers walked through the residence with the tenant present. While doing so, officers observed the tenant attempting to conceal a large bag of what appeared to be synthetic marijuana as well as another large amount of what appeared to be synthetic marijuana spread out on a tray and still in the drying stage. At that point, officers detained the tenant and contacted the Dunklin County Juvenile Office as well as the Missouri Division of Children’s Services due to there being a four-month-old child present. Officers then applied for and received a search warrant for the residence. During the search, officers located a large undisclosed amount of synthetic marijuana, a large undisclosed amount of methamphetamine, an undisclosed amount of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, and two firearms inside the residence. Officers subsequently arrested 23-year-old Taja Welton of Kennett for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Welton was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office. The child was turned over to the Missouri Division of Children’s Services. This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. At approximately 4:13 pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Oaklawn Circle in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with both parties involved. Neither party wished to pursue charges and one left for the remainder of the afternoon.

At approximately 6:17 pm, officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Miss Clara Drive in reference to an investigation of a previous incident. While there, officers located an undisclosed amount of Marijuana. Officers subsequently arrested 22-year-old Bobbie Luster for Possession of Marijuana. Luster was released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.

At approximately 9:24 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 40-year-old Donna Turner of Kennett for shoplifting. Turner was released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.

9-11-2018

At approximately 10:05 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of East Fifth Street in reference to a violation of a restraining order. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim and learned that someone had entered the residence while they were away and caused a large amount of damage. Throughout the subsequent investigation, officers were able to identify and locate a suspect. Officers subsequently arrested 37-year old Robert Jenkins of Kennett for Violation of an Order of Protection. Jenkins was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 11:16 am, officers were dispatched to the Huck’s convenience store in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers learned that during a previous shift, a subject had come into the store asking to use the phone and while doing so, stole an item from behind the counter. Officers and employees were able to identify the suspect however, he has not been located at this point. A report was completed and forwarded to the Kennett Municipal Prosecutor’s office for the filing of formal charges.

At approximately 11:24 am, officers were dispatched to the Missouri Probation and Parole office in reference to a wanted person. Upon arrival, officers arrested 30-year-old Eric Hendrix of Cardwell on an active Probation/Parole warrant. Hendrix was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

At approximately 12:36 pm, officers were contacted at the Police Department in regards to a theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a victim who provided details that they had been a deceived of $2000 in 2016 and had since been awarded a judgment in court ordering the suspect to refund the money. At this time, the suspect had still not refunded the money. A report was completed and forwarded to the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office for review.

At approximately 3:34 pm, officers were dispatched to the Missouri Probation and Parole office in reference to a wanted person. Upon arrival, officers arrested 27-year-old Samantha Jenkins of Kennett on an active Probation/Parole warrant. Jenkins was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

At approximately 6:31 pm, officers were dispatched to the intersection of 412 and Missouri Route VV in reference to a tractor-trailer overturned in the roundabout. Upon arrival, officers learned that the drivers load had shifted while traveling around the roundabout causing the tractor-trailer to overturn. The incident left the intersection closed to traffic for approximately five hours until the roadway could be cleared.

At approximately 9:04 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to shoplifters. Upon arrival, and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 27-year-old Ariana Clark of Riverside California and two juveniles from Hayti for shoplifting. Clark was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date and the two juveniles were turned over to the Dunklin County Juvenile office.
