Kennett City Wide Clean-Up to resume Friday, August 17

The City of Kennett Annual City Wide Clea-Up will resume Friday, Aug. 17. The city council recently voted in favor of changing this up this year in order to cut costs but also still give the city the much-needed clean-up as offered in previous years.

The council agreed it would be in the city’s best interest to have containers at Fire Station 1. Also, members of the Freedom House Mission Bible Training Center in Holcomb have volunteered to help those who may not be able to lift their items and bring them to the drop off site.

The Freedom House Mission Bible Training Center has several men who are willing to come down and go to the residences where people can’t move the items themselves and pick up what needs to be hauled away.

Mayor Bob Hancock said the men with Freedom House Mission Bible Training Center will be going through the items they haul and taking what they feel they could place in the church’s yard sale as a way to raise money and support the church and its efforts.

The City of Kennett will be supplying the fuel for the vehicles used by the Freedom House Mission Bible Training Center members who are doing the hauling, but after looking at the figures, the city should still be cutting its costs in half.
