C'ville City Council meeting April 16, 2018

City Council met at the regular time of 5 pm on April 16, 2018, at City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro tem JJ Bullington. The roll was taken, previous meeting minutes were approved along with bills and reports.

1:10 Certified election results were read and approved by city council.

2:45 Oath of office was conducted by City Clerk Takella Motton. The officials who took the oath were Mayor Sue Grantham, City Council Members Barbara Rogers, Matt Duckworth, Jimmy Lyons, and JJ Bullington, City Collector Rebecca Morgan, Chief of Police Tony Jones, and City Treasurer Mike Dale.

5:15 Mayor Grantham called for letters, petitions, and communications.

5:40 Randy Guest addressed the council on the progress the Baseball/Softball Commission has made. Opening Day is this Saturday the 21st and he invited all city officials to come out. the commission would love for this to be a big event.

Also, all of the team uniforms will have “RW” on the upper front shoulder in memory of Randall Waldrop, a long time Caruthersville resident who was loved by everyone. Randall passed away this past November.

9:15 Mayors Report. Mayor Grantham asked the council to nominate and elect a mayor pro tem. Councilperson JJ Bullington nominated Councilperson Johnny Hood. No others were nominated and Hood was approved unanimously.

10:50 Police Report. Police Chief Tony Jones asked the council to amend the budget for additional camera equipment and new duty weapons.
