Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder warns of IRS scam

Individuals are still receiving calls stating they are from the IRS and telling individuals they have a warrant for their arrest and law enforcement will pick them up unless they send them money.

The amounts they request to keep from serving the warrant varies.  The caller has all kind of valid information about the individual they are calling.  They will ask that one goes to a store who has gift cards and purchase cards and send to a particular address.

Those who are receiving the calls should not send any money because of a phone call.

IRS DOES NOT MAKE PHONE CALLS AND MAKE THREATS REGARDING WARRANTS.

INDIVIDUALS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND NOT SEND ANYONE WHO IS DEMANDING MONEY OVER THE PHONE.

DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAMS.  SOME PEOPLE ARE AND THEY ARE LOSING LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY.
