Minutes from H’ville City Council meeting Feb. 20

Mayor Ward opened the meeting at 6:00 PM. The minutes were reviewed from December 19th and January 3rd. Alderman Miller motioned to accept the minutes; and council person Hickok seconded.

The bills were presented to the council. Alderman Miller motions to pay the bills; Alderperson Hamrick seconded.

Assistant Fire Chief Terry Vaughn, gave the fire report. He stated there were seven medical calls and they would work on their building this Saturday. He said they would try to work on the fire truck this weekend as well. Mayor Ward presented the Fire Department with training certificates.

Police Officer Sabrina Kellums, gave the police report. Officer Kellums stated there had been five calls, six traffic stops, five citations written, and the new police car had received many compliments.

The CDBG grant was not awarded to the city, Alderperson Hickok briefly discussed the street department saying that there were still potholes in the streets.

Maintenance employee Harley Harvey made a list of tools that the city needs as he has been bringing his own tools to work. The total for the tools equals roughly $3,500.00  Alderman Blackburn motions to buy the tools over a three-month period Alderperson Hamrick seconded.

City Clerk Kameron Roy put in his resignation for April 6th so that the city would have time to hire someone and he could properly train them.

Mayor Ward brought up bringing in Garcia Casey for a couple weeks in the mornings to see if she would want the job, since she had been filling in during Kameron’s absence when he would have to be gone for the day. Alderperson Hamrick motioned to give Casey a chance and if she could not or did not want the job to place an ad in the local paper; Alderman Blackburn seconded.
