Kennett Civitan Club Hosting 1st Annual Buddy Baseball League

Kennett Civitan Club Hosting 1st Annual Buddy Baseball League  to help boys and girls with disabilities play a fun and engaging game of baseball.

Beginning March 3rd, volunteers and buddies from the Kennett Civitan Club will be working together to benefit their community. Kennett Civitans have organized the Buddy Baseball League to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to play a non competitive form of baseball that is inclusive to all. This is one of several projects organized by the club, whose members volunteer regularly to help those less fortunate.

Buddy Baseball is for boys and girls with mental, physical, social, emotional, and other disabilities that prohibits them from participating in regular league baseball teams and programs. This program will match a “match” a buddy to each child and assist them through an hour long game. The league, being sponsored by Ultimate Sports, will be held indoors and allow for children ages 5-18 to play each Saturday morning. Parents and spectators will watch and support their children from a distance giving them a sense of independence and increase teamwork and confidence. Registration is open February 20th and 22nd from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church.

Civitan International is an organization of community service clubs with roughly 40,000 members across four continents. Each club works to help others and fulfill needs in their community, with a special emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. Civitans also continue this mission through fundraising for the UAB Civitan International Research
Center, a world-class medical facility dedicated to researching developmental disabilities and other cognitive disorders. For more information,  contact Sarah Hansen at 573-644-3700 visit our Facebook Page or email at kennettcivitanclub@gmail.com
