MALDEN, MO – A video surfaced last week of Ashley Townsend, 33, of Malden, Mo., carrying a 3-year-old girl while dragging a 4-year-old child across Douglass Street in Malden.
She has been charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and is being held in the Dunklin County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bond.
According to Malden police, a woman witnessed the event and brought a video of Townsend carrying and dragging the two children across the street in heavy traffic. Townsend swung the arm of the 4-year-old viciously while in the road then walked to the curb where she put the 3-year-old down on the ground and “swung the 4-year-old to the ground,” leaving her on the curb while she walked away.
When Malden Police went to Townsends house last Wednesday, she reportedly shut the door and refused to speak with them.
