Meanwhile the manhunt for William Joshua Carter, 27, of Kennett and Joseph Latamondeer, 41, of East Prairie, both considered armed and dangerous, who escaped from the Pemiscot County Justice Center early Sunday morning continues.

Sgt. Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said teams are searching from the north and south along the levee. Crews are checking farm land, hunting fields and asking land owners for video footage they might have. Sgt. Parrot said, “We’ve also been going door to door talking to people just telling them to keep their cars locked, check their outbuildings, that sort of thing,” Parrott said. “And one of the things that we’re also doing is reaching out to the land owners that have hunting ground down here, asking them to check their trail cameras.

We’ve had some tips come in from that and we’re just asking people to be observant, if they see something, call their local law enforcement. Carter was behind bars on a charge of first-degree murder. He’s accused of running over his estranged wife Heather Carter and Aaron Campbell of Kennett on Riggs Street behind Manac Trailer in June 2016.

Latamondeer was in jail on several charges including resisting arrest and theft. He was scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 16 after pleading guilty to a charge of domestic assault. In September 2016, Latamondeer was arrested for brutally beating a 25-year-old woman. Latamondeer escaped before his scheduled court appearance. Investigators still believe both men are in the Caruthersville, Missouri area.
