WANTED: 2 armed, dangerous inmates on the run after escape from Pemiscot Co., MO jail

A search by air, ground, foot, boat and 4-wheeler for William Joshua Carter, 27, of Kennett and Joseph Latamondeer, 41, of East Prairie continues.

Pemiscot County authorities and the Missouri Highway Patrol have searched 20 barges on the Mississippi River looking for the pair, who escaped from the Pemiscot County Jailearly Sunday, October, 15 in the morning hours.

The Patrol has brought in a helicopter to aid in the search, according to Sgt. Clark Parrott with the Missori Highway Patrol.  Carter and Latamondeer went thru the ceiling in the shower stall and made their way to and thru an outside closet thru an air duct.  They then busted the closet lock to gain freedom, then scaled a fence at the jail.

Carter was being held on first degree murder charges and Latamondeer was facing stealing, resisting arrest and domestic violence charges. Sgt. Parrott says for residents to make sure outbuildings and vehicles are locked, and do not approach the suspects as they are consi

dered armed and dangerous.

 

The Missouri Highway Patrol, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, Caruthersville Police Department, The Missouri Department of Corrections, the Missouri Conservation Department, and the Kennett Police Department are all involved in the search.

Sgt. Parrott says the two men are now being charged with  escape.
