The Caruthersville City Council met Tuesday, September 19, to set the tax rate for the city.  The council attempted to meet Monday night but not enough councilmen showed up to conduct business.
The meeting was rescheduled from Monday til Tuesday evening to coincide with the regular council meeting.  The tax rate portion of the meeting started at 5:10 and the mayor clarified that the real estate tax increase was caused largely by the nursing home.
At Monday nights meeting, the same tax rate from last year was recommended for adoption at the rate hearing.
